Fundraiser for Keshawn Brooks

The fatal stabbing of 15-year-old Keshawn Brooks earlier this month left his family and community members scrambling for answers, justice, and money to pay for his funeral costs.

On the afternoon of Thursday, March 12, Brooks was walking home from Rodriguez Cabrillo High School when someone tried to grab his backpack then stabbed him. This occurred near Stephens Middle School, on the 2800 block of Santa Fe Ave. in Long Beach. Brooks was two blocks away from home.

The funeral services for Brooks will be this Saturday, but the fundraiser is still short of its goal. The official fundraising link is gofund.me/os3qn0. It is not too late to donate in support of Brooks’ family using the official Go Fund Me link, as there are no family members asking for donations on street corners. The page currently has $8,060 of its $20,000 goal.

Brooks’ family thanks the community for its help on the Go Fund Me page, and say that Brooks enjoyed playing football, shooting pool, and playing games with his cousins and friends. He loved to laugh and had the most beautiful smile.
