Man Dead After Police Chase in North Long Beach
On Thursday around 1 pm, Long Beach Police were requested to assist CHP with an armed suspect After a CHP pursuit that was then terminated at Cherry Ave & South St. The suspect vehicle colliding into a cinder block walk. The CHP officer then attempted to contact the suspect, when the suspect shot in the direction of the officer and fled on foot. A short time later the suspect was found deceased near the railroad tracks. This a joint LBPD & CHP investigation Street closures include Cherry from 59th to Market, and South from Paramount to Gardenia while the investigation continues.
A weapon was found on scene it appears to be a self inflicted gunshot injury.
