Port of Long Beach Creates Dive Team To Keep Cargo Moving

Long Beach is home to the second-busiest seaport. This is why a specialized port maintenance dive team has been created. If the big one so to speak where to hit Long Beach the earthquake would be strong enough to topple 150 foot tall cranes into the harbor, bringing operations to a halt. The team would be able to be on the scene with their boat sea force ready to use heavy duty tools to cut up the tangle of steel and cable and to pull it out of the water while being able to identify any underwater damage to the wharf. The Port of long Beach has a crucial role in the world’s economy having 180 billion dollars of trade coming through the harbor early, making the impressive dive team incredibly important safeguarding and ensuring commerce continues to flow during a time of disaster.
