One Dead, One Injured Following Fatal Car Crash

long beach police crime sceneOn Saturday, June 11, 2016, at approximately 12:01 a.m., officers were dispatched to the intersection of Carson Street and San Anseline Avenue regarding an injury traffic collision, which resulted in the death of one adult male, and minor injuries to an adult female.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a Honda Civic with major damage, on the north curb of Carson Street and a motorcycle with major damage, in the center divider on San Anseline Ave. Officers also discovered a male lying in the roadway. Long Beach Fire Department Paramedics responded and determined the motorcycle driver deceased at the scene.

The investigation revealed that the driver of the 2004 Honda Civic was traveling westbound on Carson Street in the #2 lane, when it was rear ended by the driver of the 2008 Kawasaki motorcycle. According to an independent witness, the motorcyclist was traveling at a high rate of speed. As a result of the collision, the Honda Civic veered off the roadway and struck a block wall.

The driver of vehicle, a 26-year-old resident of Lakewood, appeared to have sustained minor injuries and was transported to the hospital by the Long Beach Fire Department.

At this time, the motorcyclist is not being identified pending notification of next of kin.
