One dead, three injured after single-vehicle crash into tree in Long Beach

On Sunday, October 23, 2016, at approximately 12:05 a.m., officers from the Long Beach Police Department were dispatched to southbound Shoreline Drive just north of the Broadway exit regarding a single vehicle injury traffic collision.

Upon arrival officers located the vehicle in the grass center median just east of Shoreline Drive and north of the Broadway exit. Officers located three critically injured passengers and the driver of the vehicle who was determined deceased at the scene by Long Beach Fire Department personnel. The injured passengers were transported to local hospitals.

The preliminary investigation revealed a 2002 Ford Focus, driven by a 22 year-old male South Gate resident, was traveling southbound Shoreline Drive under the 6th Street underpass when it lost control for an unknown reason, traveled up onto the grass center median, and collided with a palm tree.
