MLK Day of Service
Join the offices of Mayor Robert Garcia and Vice Mayor Rex Richardson for a collaborate day of community service in honor of Martin Luther King’s national holiday. The day will begin with a Houghton Park (6301 Myrtle Ave) with a pancake breakfast provided by the Long Beach Firefighters Association at 8 a.m. Afterword’s, there will be nine service projects throughout Long Beach residents can take a part in giving a helping hand. Aerial Fabric Classes

Wednesday
Doodlefest
Come take part in the Squeeze Art Collective’s monthly doodlefest at Ballast Point Long Beach (110 N Marina Dr) from 7-10 p.m. and doodle with friends over some beers and food. Squeeze Art Collective with provide scrap paper and markers but ask if you have extra supplies to bring them too. The event is free to attend.

Thursday
Local Band Hangout
The Queen Mary (1126 Queens Hwy) will host its monthly third Thursday live music event in the Observation Bar. Grab a drink and dine in as you listen to Long Beach’s local artist Hipsway, DJ La Flaca Lee and DJ Eusebio Akasa. Happy hour is from 5-7 p.m. and the show runs from 7-10 p.m. Admission is free. Take a bicycle ride in downtown and stop to enjoy the art in this family-fun event hosted by MADE by Millworks (240 Pine Ave). The journey begins at MADE at 9:45 a.m. It will be an easy-paced bike ride of about two hours appreciating the city’s murals. Don’t forget to bring a camera, sunscreen and water.
