Long Beach Prepares for Potential Heavy Rain, Winds

A storm system is bringing rain, winds, and cold weather to Southern California this morning, Monday, Oct. 25. The National Weather Service is predicting rain showers throughout the day with cooler temperatures in the evening. The heaviest rains are expected between 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 pm. Light rain and cooler temperatures are expected to follow into the evening.

LBCC Aquatics Coach Helps USA Water Polo Win Gold

Long Beach City College Head Aquatics Coach Chris Oeding helped the United States Water Polo Women’s Senior National Team achieve history during the final weekend of the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. On Saturday, August 7th, the team defeated Spain, 14-5, to secure their sixth Olympic medal and the team’s third straight gold.

Long Beach Providing Migrant Children with Temporary Emergency Shelter

To ensure the safety and well-being of each child, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Refugee Resettlement, has requested assistance from local governments throughout the United States to provide temporary facilities for these children, while the federal government quickly reconnects them with family members or sponsors in the United States. Long Beach specifically has been requested to assist with this humanitarian mission to safely house children who are unattended by their parents.
