Although little is known about the suspect, detectives do not believe the shooting was a random act of violence. On Saturday, January 3, 2015, about 5:50 p.m., officers were dispatched to a shooting call in the 100 block of W. 51st Street and found three adult victims who sustained gunshot injuries. The preliminary investigation leads detectives to believe an adult male suspect fled with the infant immediately after the shooting occurred. Long Beach Fire Department responded to the scene and transported the infant’s parents and uncle to local hospitals. Two victims remain in critical but stable condition. The third victim has been treated and released.

The suspect, who is described as a male with dark skin, possibly Hispanic or African-American, fled the scene with the infant and remains outstanding. No vehicle was seen leaving the location.

LBPD urges anyone who may have information on her whereabouts to please call immediately. The infant may also be returned to any hospital, fire station, or police station.

UPDATE: LOCATED***MISSING 3-WEEK-OLD INFANT FOUND DECEASED IN SAN DIEGO COUNTY

On 1/4/15, about 4:30 p.m., San Diego County Sheriff’s Department notified Long Beach Police Department that they were investigating the discovery of a deceased infant, knowing that Long Beach Police were actively investigating a case involving a missing infant.

San Diego authorities found a deceased infant in a dumpster at a commercial strip mall in the 600 block of Palm Drive in Imperial Beach. LBPD detectives traveled to San Diego to confer with authorities. The San Diego Coroner’s Office confirmed the deceased infant as Eliza Delacruz.

Long Beach detectives notified next of kin before advising the public & media.

The suspect who committed these horrific crimes remains outstanding. No one has come forward with information and LBPD again urges anyone with information to call Long Beach Homicide Detectives Donald Goodman and Mark Mattia at (562) 570-7244. Long Beach Police will continue to aggressively investigate and pursue any lead to locate the suspect. No motive for the heinous crimes has been determined.
