Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day Tomorrow at the Long Beach Irish for a Day Inaugural Parade on Pine Avenue
In collaboration with Cultural Alliance Long Beach (CALB), Millworks, Shannon’s on Pine and RIOTstage, “Party on Pine” welcomes the Long Beach Irish For A Day Inaugural Parade to the North and South Pine neighborhood in downtown Long Beach on Saturday March 14th. The parade starts at 1:00 pm.
Badfish Roller Derby league will kick off the parade. These gals are gorgeous, tough and ready to roll. The Grand Marshal(s) riding atop a vintage Fire Engine, Shannon’s on Pine, and the Localism Trolly with a Girl Scout Troop riding on it are a few other participants in the parade.
The Office of Council member Lena Gonzalez, the Office of Council member Roberto Uranga, Long Beach Firefighter Association, who will also be cooking Hot Dogs and running a Bobbing For Green Apples for the kiddies, Party On Pine, RIOTstage and the gorgeous guys and gals of Grotesque Burlesque are all participants in what will be a great time for all attending.
Local band Dublin Public, Gallagher’s Bar, the uber cute, local Long Beach Junior Roller Derby (skaters aged 4-17), and a dog group dressed as leprechauns will be joining in the fun. Local icon, Marko’s Treats, will be riding in the parade and have nothing but green popsicles on board his ice cream cart.
The Press Telegram, Molina Healthcare, 4th Saturday Swing (swing dance group), local bars Congregation with their Catholic School Girl Uniform clad waitresses, Red Leprechaun and Auld Dubliner are all entering the parade. Not to be out done, Hamburger Mary’s will enter as well as the Crossfit Radius Gym, Westerly School Football Team, Cyclone Coasters, Millworks LB and more.
To top off all of this Irish For A Day fun, there will also be up to 6 bands playing along the parade route: Jelly of the Month Club at MADE in Long Beach, Hedgehog Swing on Pine Ave, Dublin Public inside Shannon’s on Pine, SEX! MONEY! POWER! on Pine Ave, and DJ Jack Pharaoh outside Shannon’s on Pine.
The parade will be MC’d by local hottie, female impersonator Jewels from Hamburger Mary’s and the outrageous Bruce McRae aka DD. We will have a small vendor village and custom t-shirts with on-site printing by Red Eye Media, face painting, and a dunk tank.
The streets will be closed off at 9AM for set up, parade registration opens at 11AM and the parade is scheduled to start at 1PM. We are expecting to last for approx. an hour and have the streets reopened by 3-3:30PM at the latest.
There will be a street-wide St Patrick’s Day party after that. Shannon’s On Pine will be hosting the main after party with drink specials, dunk tank and much more.
