On Wednesday, June 17, 2015, at approximately 9:07 p.m., Long Beach Police were dispatched to the 6400 block of Paramount Boulevard regarding an injury traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.
Upon arrival, officers began providing first aid to the male pedestrian who had sustained major trauma. Long Beach Fire Department paramedics arrived and pronounced him deceased at the scene. At this time, the pedestrian is only being described as a 30-year-old resident of Long Beach. The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office will make positive identification and notification of the next of kin.
No witnesses to the collision came forward and the suspect vehicle fled the scene. The suspect driver later called police dispatch to report that she was involved in a hit and run twenty minutes earlier. It was determined that her vehicle was the vehicle involved in the collision.
The preliminary investigation revealed the pedestrian was in the roadway outside of any crosswalk when he was struck by a 2012 Lexus CT200H. The Lexus was traveling northbound on Paramount Boulevard being driven by a 37-year-old female resident of Long Beach. The investigation remains ongoing.
