On Thursday, July 09, 2015 at approximately 9:44 P.M., officers from the Long Beach Police Department were dispatched to the area of Ocean Boulevard and Falcon Avenue regarding an injury traffic collision.
Upon arrival, officers discovered two vehicles were involved and a passenger had been ejected from one of the vehicles.
The preliminary investigation revealed a 2003 Ford Mustang, driven by a 19-year-old male resident of South Gate, attempted to make a left turn from eastbound Ocean Boulevard to northbound Falcon Avenue. The Mustang was struck by a 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe traveling westbound on Ocean Avenue, driven by a 17-year-old resident of Long Beach. The impact of the collision caused a passenger in the Ford Mustang, a 19-year-old female resident of Lynwood, to be ejected from the vehicle.
The passenger sustained traumatic injuries. A witness to the collision attempted life saving efforts until the arrival of the police and fire departments. Long Beach Fire Personnel transported the passenger to a local hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries.
The driver of the Ford Mustang was also transported to a local hospital for injuries sustained during the collision.
