Truck Shipping Container Crushes Bicyclist

A deadly crash involving a tractor-trailer hauling a container that apparently became dislodged near Santa Fe just north of Wardlow. The truck was heading north towards the city of Carson when the container somehow became disconnected, The container then fell over onto a man who was riding a bike killing him.

The victim was identified Wednesday as Robert Castorena, 51, of Long Beach, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner

Authorities were investigating the possibility that the container hit an overhanging railroad bridge, which pushed it off the truck.
