Downtown Long Beach High-Rise Fire Displaces Residents
Today around 6:30 the Long Beach Fire Department units responded to a sixteen-story, residential high-rise apartment fire on the 600 block of E. Ocean Blvd. Heavy fire was seen coming from a balcony on the sixth floor and a second alarm response was called for.
The fire was confined to the apartment of origin in approximately twenty minutes and no injuries were reported. Approximately fifteen residents were displaced due to smoke and water damage to the building. The American Red Cross was on scene to assist with accommodations.
The cause of origin is unknown at this time and is under investigation by Fire Department Investigators.
