Man Fatally Stabbed Sunday Near Drake Park

A man was shot and killed Tuesday in Long Beach, police said.

The shooting was reported at 2:10 a.m. in the 600 block of East Ninth Street, according to Nancy Pratt spokeswomen of the Long Beach Police Department.

Responding officers found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper body, Pratt said. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene. The man was found on a walkway between a home and an apartment complex, the victim was known to stay at that home sometimes but was not his permanent residence.

Authorities identified the victim as Manuel Arecheiga, 18.

Investigators were speaking with witnesses and there was no suspect information immediately available

The shooting does not appear to be gang-related, no further details were available about the shooting.
