LONG BEACH ARTIST TO WORK WITH LOCAL YOUTH TO CREATE SELF-PORTRAITS FOR DISPLAY AT UPCOMING BLACK HISTORY MONTH EXPO

On Saturday, January 21st from 9am to 11am, renowned Local Artist Gregory Dane Sabin will give children ages 8 to 15 from the Andy Street Neighborhood Association an art studio experience on creating self-portraits.  These kids, under Sabin’s instruction will create expressive self-portraits for display at an upcoming Black History Month Expo.

The children’s self-portraits will be on display February 2 – 4, 2017 at a three day celebration of Black History Month at The Expo Arts Center located at 4321 Atlantic Avenue, Long Beach, CA in Bixby Knolls. The event is free to attend and open to the public.

Andy Street is a one-block community comprised of 24 multi-family dwelling units located in the northeast section of Long Beach, CA. Previously considered one of the most dangerous and violent neighborhoods of Long Beach, the Andy Street Community Association (ASCA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that empowers communities to be courageous, believe, grow and improve.
