Murder on 500 block of Cherry Avenue


Long Beach, CA

On Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at approximately 9:00 p.m., Long Beach Police were dispatched to a possible shooting in the 500 block of Cherry Avenue, which resulted in the death of a male adult.

Arriving officers located a victim who sustained a gunshot injury. Long Beach Fire Department personnel transported the victim, in critical but stable condition, to a local hospital. The male adult suspect fled before officers arrived. The incident does not appear to be random.

On April 20, 2017, Long Beach Police were notified that the victim succumbed to his injuries.

The Los Angeles County Coroner will make positive identification and notify next of kin.

A motive for the shooting is yet to be determined and the investigation remains ongoing.
