Update: Woman Attacks Long Beach Police Officer In Middle Of Busy Intersection
Monday around 3:30 pm Long Beach Officers were dispatched to the area of Anaheim Street and Pacific Avenue regarding a female adult subject in the intersection acting in an erratic manner and jumping on vehicles. Officers observed the subject acting in an erratic manner in the middle of the intersection and attempted to detain her to ensure the safety of the suspect and the motoring public.
Officers were compelled to use force to detain the suspect. The suspect was transported to a local hospital due to her level of impairment. Investigation revealed the suspect was intoxicated and under the influence of unknown narcotics said Officer Delmy Hughes LBPD spokesperson.

During the Use of Force investigation a video was located on social media which depicts a portion of the incident and some of the force used by Officers. The investigation is ongoing.
The Long Beach Police Department would like to thank the anonymous good Samaritan who came to the aid of the responding officer and assisted in the detention of the suspect.
As with all incidents involving force used by a Long Beach Police Officer, there is a multi-level review process of the incident and force used.
