Formation Flight Tomorrow Over Long Beach Schools Supporting STEM Education
On Friday Edwards Air Force Base will launch a formation flight to mark the 70th anniversary of Captain Charles “Chuck” Yeager’s legendary first supersonic flight on October 14, 1947. It will fly over Long Beach area schools including Lowell Elementary, Mann Elementary, Luther Burbank Elementary, Lincoln Elementary, Roosevelt Elementary and George Washington Middle School between approximately 12:18 and 12:28 p.m.

The formation will include an F-16 Fighting Falcon, F-15 Eagle, F-22 Raptor and an F-35 Lightning II. These aircraft are noticeably louder than other aircraft and are easily heard in neighborhoods throughout Long Beach.
Formation flights will also fly over schools in the Antelope Valley, Bakersfield, San Bernardino County, Riverside County, Los Angeles County and Simi Valley to support STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) education.
