LBPD arrested suspect in sexual assault of minor – Additional victims sought

On Tuesday, April 9, 2019, the Long Beach Police Department arrested an adult male suspect in connection with the sexual assault of a minor, and detectives believe additional victims may exist.

Anthony Sutton, a 32-year-old resident of Long Beach, was taken into custody after a minor came forward on April 8, 2019, to the Long Beach Police Department to report multiple incidents of sexual assault in the cities of Long Beach and Signal Hill.

Suspect Sutton was employed as a teacher’s aide at a learning center in Long Beach since January 2019. Although none of the reported incidents occurred at the learning center, detectives believe there may be other victims.

On April 9, 2019, Sutton was taken into custody and booked for multiple charges of sexual assault of a minor and possession of child pornography. Sutton is being held at the Long Beach jail on $200,000 bail. On April 10, 2019, the case was filed with the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

Detectives believe additional victims may exist and are strongly encouraging anyone who may have been victimized to come forward.
