Suspect alert at Long Beach City College found to be a replica gun
Police in Long Beach were dispatched this Wednesday morning at 10:20am after an emergency call due to a suspect with a gun at Long Beach City College on the Pacific Coast Campus. All students received text alerts from their school to lock themselves safe in a classroom or locker room and silence their phones, and were urged to call 911 if they had any information on the suspect.
After investigation the LBPD found the weapon to be a replica firearm for a class production. There were several SWAT and LBPD teams at the scene.
Long Beach Community College District Superintendent-President Reagan Ferragamo Romali expressed his gratitude to the lock-down response efficiency of his faculty and staff, as well as the Long Beach Police Department, and underlined “the importance the emergency training [had been] provided and the partnership between LBCC and LBPD.” Nobody was hurt nor taken into custody – after the all clear classes at Long Beach City College resumed as scheduled.
