Just Like Heaven touched down in Long Beach over the weekend

HEAVEN ON EARTH, OR JUST LONG BEACH

We were blessed this weekend to have Just Like Heaven touch down in Long Beach. This two day festival took place at the Queen Mary events park on May 3 and 4 hosted by Goldenvoice.

This festival had some of the biggest alternative and indie bands out there such as French pop icons Phoenix and the wildly eccentric band the Yeah Yeah Yeahs just to name a few.

Just Like Heaven was originally supposed to be a one day event but sales were so strong that the Friday date was added, unlike most two day events this festival includes the same lineup each day.

Many of the bands were celebrating great mile stones in their career and even a reunion tour by The Rapture. Just Like Heaven also brought many artist to “The Beach”; Michael Angelakos front man of Passion Pit explained to the Friday audience that this was his first time in Long Beach and he was having a great time.

Not only was this an event filled with music and Cure puns but also helped bring business to Long Beach. The only downfall to this event was the traffic created in downtown due to parking and the shuttle systems.

Overall, Just Like Heaven reminded the millennials and generation X of a time when rock music was at it’s peak.

Smokin Grooves and Once Upon A Time In The LBC are coming later this summer, get your tickets at www.goldenvoice.com
