BREAKING NEWS: Pair of Shootings, Hours Apart in Mid-City

A man is recovering after being shot in the lower torso in the 400 Block of East 17th Street in Mid-City Long Beach. The shooting was reported at approximately 1:15pm, when responding Officers arrived, they found the male adult with non-life threatening injuries. The victim reportedly self-transported to a local hospital for further treatment. Long Beach Gang Detectives are handling this case and at this time there is no description of the suspect, or a motive.

Meanwhile, just blocks away an investigation into a deadly shooting continues after 9-1-1 calls began to come in at approximately 9:45 pm on Thursday night with in the 2300 Block of Elm Street also in Mid-City. When Officers arrived to that scene, the found a male victim laying in the street with a gunshot wound to his upper torso. Officers reportedly performed life-saving measures and requested further assistance for the Long Beach Fire Department, who later arrived and pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

The victim has been identified as 39-year-old Antonio Macias, of Long Beach. There is no description of the suspect and motive is unclear at this time. Detectives say that they are still trying to determine if there is any relationship or connection between the victim and the yet to be identified suspect. This shooting is believed to be gang related.
