8th annual Uptown Jazz Fest in Long Beach

California State Senator, Lena Gonzalez, as well as Councilmember Rex Richardson of District 9 and Councilwoman Jeannine Pearce of Council District 2, are pleased to announce the full lineup of the 8th Annual Uptown Jazz Fest. This event will be taking place at Houghton Park in Long Beach on Saturday, July 6 starting at noon.

Radio personality and comedian, Guy Black of 102.3 KJLH, will be broadcasting live at Houghton Park from 9am-1pm.
As head of the Uptown Jazz Festival, Councilmember Richardson is thrilled to bring back some of the festival’s favorites, such as Con Funk Shun and DW3.

This year’s Uptown Jazz Festival will be bringing in many different sub genres of jazz music: DW3 and Biscuits & Gravy are known for their funk-like beats, with a dash of R&B, that keep the crowd moving. Mr. Quick provides the same funk-like remixes on a turntable.
For the Spanish music lovers, Susie Hansen’s Latin band will be performing traditional salsa music, as well as the “cha cha” in English.
Long Beach local, Tatiana Tate Quartet, is an award-winning trumpeter that will be providing experimental and spiritual beats with a twist of hip-hop to her set.

Los Angeles County Supervisor Janice Hahn, the Port of Long Beach, Long Beach Transit, Long Beach Water Department, and more are sponsors of the 2019 Uptown Jazz festival.

Further information can be found on the 8th Annual Uptown Jazz Festival Facebook page, or on their website at www.insidedistrict9.com.
