Woman shot and killed in downtown Long Beach
On Thursday a woman was shot and killed at 7:55 a.m. this morning. Long Beach police officers responded to an assist fire call on the 300 block of Magnolia Avenue.
When LBPD arrived officers contacted an adult female victim with a gunshot wound to her torso.
Long Beach Fire responded and transported the victim to a local hospital in critical condition where she succumbed to her injuries.
Traffic lanes northbound and southbound on Magnolia Ave. and westbound on 3rd Street are closed at this time.
No suspect information available at this time. Homicide Detectives are on scene and are actively investigating to determine possible suspect information and motive.

Update 7/12/19
On July 11, 2019, at approximately 7:55 a.m., officers responded to an assist fire call in the 300 block of Magnolia Avenue, which resulted in the death of a female adult.
Upon arrival, officers located an unconscious female adult victim laying on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound to her upper torso. The Long Beach Fire Department transported the victim to a local hospital in critical condition where she succumbed to her injuries a short time later. The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office will be identifying the female victim.
The suspect is described as a male White adult between the ages of 30 – 35, last seen fleeing the scene on foot.
Later that day, evidence led officers to a residence in the 300 block of Daisy Avenue. S.W.A.T. was activated and a subsequent search warrant of the residence was conducted. The residence was found to be unoccupied.
The preliminary investigation reveals that the victim and suspect were known to each other. There was also no indication that the incident was related to courthouse operations.
Detectives are utilizing various resources to locate the suspect and are actively working to gather additional information as a part of the ongoing investigation.
