Miller Children’s & Women’s Hospital and the LBFD Bring the “Beach” to Hospitalized Patients
This Friday, August 2nd, Miller’s Children’s and Women’s Hospital partnered with Child’s Life and the Long Beach Fire Department to give child patients a special summer treat.
Beach Day is an annual event put on by the hospital for patients under the age of 18. The auditorium is transformed into a seaside paradise complete with carnival games, face painting, and a bubble master. Firemen wheel around patients in their chairs and SWAT set up a small shooting booth.
“I just want to thank all the participants that are here today to make the patients day a little bit brighter, a little bit different, something out of the normal day for hospitalized patients,” said Dr. Graham Tse.
Millie the Dolphin was greeting patients with a mermaid friend while other children were making shark hats. Beach Day gave children something to look forward to.
Sponsors include Ala Carte, Donna Bishop, Allied Healthcare FCU, Rossmoor Bakery, Pilots for Kids, Signal Hill Police Department, Long Beach Swat, Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific, Happy Face, Academy of Magical Arts, Sodexo, Pet Therapy and Auxiliary with the Michelle Rae Crane Foundation as the title sponsor.
