LBPD arrest man for online threat against Bernie Sanders Rally
27 year old, Jose Rafael Guzman was arrested on Monday August 5, 2019 for an alleged threat against an upcoming presidential campaign rally in Long Beach where Senator Bernie Sanders is scheduled to speak.
A concerned individual informed the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) of an online threat of violence potentially occurring at the event in the City of Long Beach.
Guzman of Huntington Park has been booked for criminal threats and threatening a public officer. Guzman was being held on $50,000 bail at the Long Beach City Jail and has since posted bail.
Police Chief Robert Luna said “We take all potential threats of violence very seriously and thoroughly investigate all reported incidents, our department will remain vigilant and continue to be visible to ensure the safety of our community.”
Sanders is still set to appear at Long Beach City College tonight at 7 p.m.
