Man With Replica Gun Arrested After Standoff in North Long Beach

Long Beach Police, K9 and SWAT team responded to a male suspect with a possible gun at the AMPM store in North Long Beach on the corner of Victoria Street and Long Beach Blvd. LBPD Officers were notified at around noon and held a stand off for approximately one hour during which K-9 units, the Long Beach Fire Department and SWAT team arrived at the scene. Colin Powell elementary school nearby was on lock down for about an hour.

The male suspect sat in a blue El Camino car and intermittently threw out objects from his window. After not responding to officers requests to come out of the car with his hands in the air, bean bag shots were fired shortly before 1:30pm. The male suspect was then handcuffed and taken into custody. The gun the suspect had turned out to be a replica gun. Roads reopened again shortly after. Stay posted for any story updates.
