Four Suspects Arrested in Involvement in Eleven Recent Robberies
On Dec. 18 and Dec.11, 2019, the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) arrested four suspects believed to be involved in eleven recent robberies.
The robberies occurred between Oct. 30, 2019, and Dec. 17, 2019, at various times during the day and night and included both street and commercial robberies. During the street robberies, the suspects, two adult males, and two adult females, brandish a firearm or simulate possession of a firearm toward the victim, rob the victim, and flee on foot. During the commercial robberies, the suspects enter the business pretending to be customers, then brandish or simulate possession of a firearm during the transaction with the sales clerk, rob the business, and flee on foot. The reported loss in these incidents is cash and miscellaneous store merchandise.
Through open communication with and cooperation from the victims, detectives were able to quickly identify and locate the suspects involved.
Jesus Corrales-Montoya, a 20-year-old resident of Long Beach, and Tranique Watkins, a 23-year-old resident of Long Beach, were located at a hotel in the 800 block of E. Pacific Coast Highway on Dec. 18th and taken into custody. Corrales-Montoya was booked for second degree robbery and is being held in the Long Beach City Jail on $650,000 bail. Tranique Watkins was booked for second degree robbery and an outstanding warrant and is being held in the Long Beach City Jail on $500,000 bail.
The other two suspects, 30-year-old Marilyn Williams of Long Beach and 31-year-old Zylaen Roberts of Signal Hill, were located on December 11th in 1900 block of Lemon Avenue. Williams was booked for second degree robbery and an outstanding warrant and was held in the Long Beach City Jail on $76,000 bail. Roberts was booked for second degree robbery and was held in the Long Beach City Jail on $50,000 bail.
Two firearms were seized during the arrests and were later determined to be replicas. No injuries were reported as a result of these robberies.
The four suspects are believed to be involved in the following incidents:
Street robberies:
- October 30 – 400 block of Pacific Ave.
- November 14 – 4th St. and Carroll Park
Attempt street robbery:
- November 14 – 600 block of Redondo Ave.
- November 29 – 1800 block of Lemon Ave.
Commercial robberies:
- November 17 – 2800 block of E. 7th St.
- November 17 – 300 block of E. Anaheim St.
- November 24 – 1200 block of Obispo Ave.
- December 3 – 1900 block of E. 7th St.
- December 15 – 1100 block of E. Anaheim St.
- December 15 – 2000 block of Orange Ave.
- December 17 – 4300 block of E. Anaheim St.
On December 13, 2019, detectives presented their case against Williams and Roberts to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. It is anticipated that detectives will present again this week for filing consideration for Corrales-Montoya and Watkins.
