Police chase ends in crash with shooting suspect
On Thursday at 6:30 p.m., LBPD officers were dispatched to a shots fired at an inhabited dwelling at a residence in the 3600 block of E. 15th Street.
When officers arrived, they contacted the resident of the location, an adult male victim, and a witness. Long Beach Police officers also located a crime scene, strike marks and casings, and determined nobody was injured said Jennifer De Prez Long Beach Police spokesperson.
After broadcasting information about the suspect’s vehicle, assisting officers located it in the area and initiated a traffic stop.
The vehicle failed to yield and a pursuit was initiated. The pursuit continued until the vehicle collided with another vehicle in the area of Long Beach Boulevard and Anaheim Street.
There were no critical injuries as a result of the collision. A handgun was located and seized.
The male adult suspect, later identified as 19-year-old Miles Carr of Long Beach, was taken into custody and booked for attempt murder, felony reckless evading, and armed criminal action and is being held in the Long Beach City Jail on $1,000,000 bail.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect initiated a verbal altercation with the adult male victim then fired shots towards the residence.
The suspect and victim are not known to each other but share a common acquaintance.
The investigation is ongoing.
