Long Beach Police Chase Robbery Suspect Vehicle in Long Beach
On Saturday at 3:20 p.m., LBPD officers were flagged down by a pedestrian in the area of 10th street and Long Beach Boulevard. The reporting party alerted officers to nearby suspects in a red vehicle that he believed had robbed him at gunpoint earlier that day said Brandon Fahey, Long Beach Police PIO.
LBPD Officers initiated a traffic stop when the suspect failed to yield, resulting in a department-authorized pursuit. The pursuit ended near the area of Cherry Avenue and Willow Street in the City of Signal Hill.
5 male juveniles and 1 male adult were taken into custody. The preliminary investigation suggests the suspects are also associated with an unrelated no-hit shooting that occurred earlier in the day. Officers later recovered a firearm believed to be related to the pursuit near the 800 block 9th street. While the motive is still under investigation, detectives believe the shooting is gang-related, the investigation is ongoing.
