Man Shot during Car-to-Car Shooting in Long Beach
A man was shot while driving northbound on Cherry at 56th Street around 5:16pm in North Long Beach. The victim was rushed to local hospital by Long Beach Fire Department.
Through LBPD preliminary investigation, officers determined a shooting occurred between two moving vehicles traveling north on Cherry Avenue from Rogers Street according to LBPD PIO Allison Gallagher.
One of the vehicles crashed in the area of 56th Street and Cherry Avenue. A male adult victim inside the vehicle had sustained gunshot wounds to the upper torso.
The victim was transported to a local hospital by Long Beach Fire in critical condition. The suspect vehicle fled the area, last seen heading westbound on 56th Street. Officers located evidence, including bullet casings.
Northbound and southbound Cherry Avenue from South Street to Market Street have been shut down.
At this time, additional suspect information is unknown.
The suspect vehicle is possibly a gray 4 door BMW leaving the area. The investigation is ongoing.
