Update: Man shot and wounded near South and Lime
On Monday around 4:30 p.m., LBPD officers were on patrol near the area of South Street and Lime Avenue when they observed two male black suspects exchanging gunfire with a third unknown suspect who fled the scene said LBPD PIO Brandon Fahey.
Upon seeing officers, the two male black suspects entered an occupied vehicle, fled the scene, and officers initiated a pursuit.
The pursuit terminated near the area of Olive Avenue and Market Street, and officers arrested the driver of the vehicle, Brushae Deon Wills, and recovered a firearm nearby; An additional three suspects exited the vehicle fled the scene on foot, and at this time are still outstanding.
Brushae Deon Wills, a 29-year-old adult male resident of Hawthorne, was booked for one count of conspiracy to commit crime, one count of accessory to a crime, and one count of evading a peace officer. Bail was set at $50,000.
Officers responding to the original shooting location contacted an uninvolved male adult victim suffering from gunshot wounds to the lower torso. The victim stated he was outside by his vehicle when the shooting occurred, and he observed that he had been struck by gunfire.
The Long Beach Fire Department responded and transported the victim to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
At this time, no other injuries have been reported. The incident is being investigated as gang-related. The investigation is ongoing.
