Two fatal shootings overnight with one being an officer involved shooting

On Friday At 2:00 a.m., LBPD officers responded to the 1900 block of Canal regarding a shooting.  Once on scene, officers located a male victim deceased.  

Another male victim was transported to a local hospital in stable condition.  The preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect and victims were involved in a brief verbal exchange when the shooting took place.  The suspect was gone before officers’ arrival.  Investigation is ongoing and possibly gang-related. 

Then at 5:15 a.m., LBPD officers responded to the 2800 block of Golden Avenue to assist the Fire Department.  When they arrived, they encountered a woman with a firearm. Approximately 20 minutes later, an officer-involved shooting occurred. A firearm was recovered.  The investigation is ongoing.
