Espresso yourself for National Coffee Day in Long Beach
Do you have trouble starting your day without your cup of coffee? We’ve all bean there! National Coffee Day is September 29th and to celebrate, we have some fun facts about coffee and a short list of local coffee houses that YOU sent in.
Lots of people start their day with a cup of coffee but did you know that the caffeinated beverage goes back to 800 A.D.? Coffee was discovered by a goat herder who noticed that his goats became extremely energetic after eating certain berries.

Portfolio Coffee House is a not-so-hidden gem that serves Stumptown Roasters coffee. You can get a variety of teas, protein shakes, and other beverages as well as pastries and breakfast dishes! You can find Portfolio at 2300 East 4th St.
Hoja’s Long Beach location at 4501 E Carson St, #109 is one of three Southern California locations. Hoja’s offers teas, seasonal tarts, and an assortment of pastries.
Coffee Drunk , found at 2701 E. 4th St., sells merch as well as coffee! Purchase some apparel along with your coffee and tea.
The Merchant is a coffee shop and bakery at 4121 Long Beach Blvd. You can get pastries and bread in addition to your dose of caffeine.
Steelhead Coffee has three locations: 3350 E Broadway, 3768 Long Beach Blvd, #103, and 1208 E. Wardlow Rd and all serve your favorite classic coffee drinks.
