UPDATE: Man with gun shot by police in Long Beach

On Friday at 8:20 a.m., LBPD officers were dispatched to the area of Los Coyotes Diagonal and Woodruff Avenue regarding an unknown trouble call with a person waving a knife.

Upon arrival, officers contacted a male adult suspect inside of a parked vehicle.
Responding officers saw that the suspect was holding a firearm, and after several officer attempts to de-escalate the situation, an officer involved shooting occurred.

The suspect suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the upper body and was transported to a local hospital by Long Beach Fire personnel for his injuries.

No officers were injured. Detectives are on scene to investigate and gather additional information.
