LONG BEACH – On Dec. 27 at 5:25 p.m., Long Beach Police Department officers responded to an injury hit-and-run collision in the area of 4th Street and Pine Avenue, which resulted in the death of a female adult.

Upon arrival, officers discovered an adult female pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle. Officers rendered first aid until Long Beach Fire Department personnel responded and determined the pedestrian had succumbed to her injuries at the scene.

The preliminary investigation revealed the pedestrian was first struck by a red pickup truck in the area of 4th Street and The Promenade. The pedestrian was dragged westbound on 4th Street before becoming dislodged from the vehicle. The driver of the red pickup truck was last seen fleeing southbound on Pine Avenue from 4th Street.

A Chevy Camaro then struck the body of the pedestrian and dragged her to Pine Avenue. The driver of the Camaro remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation. The driver had a valid driver’s license and was not suspected of driving under the influence, distracted driving nor speeding.

The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office responded and will assist in identifying the female pedestrian. The first vehicle that struck the pedestrian was only described as a red pickup truck that was last seen fleeing southbound on Pine Avenue from 4th Street.
