Breaking News: Shooting reported near Southbound Cherry Avenue and 4th Street

Update: Long Beach Police Department has released information regarding this incident following preliminary investigation.

On Jan. 27 at approximately 7:00 p.m., officers responded to a shots call in the area of Rose Avenue and 4th Street. The preliminary investigation indicates a male adult victim was seated in his vehicle in the 1900 block of E. 4th Street when two male adult suspects fired shots at him.

The victim attempted to flee the area in his vehicle, and collided with a parked vehicle in the 300 block of Cherry Avenue. The victim sustained gunshot wounds to the upper and lower body and was transported by Long Beach Fire to a local hospital in stable condition.

The two suspects fled the area on foot. Officers located evidence, including casings. No other injuries were reported. Additional suspect information and the motive are unknown at this time. Gang detectives responded to the scene and the investigation is ongoing.

Original Story: LONG BEACH, CA – A shooting incident has occurred at Southbound Cherry Avenue and 4th Street. It is being reported that one male victim has been shot with a possible injury to the lower body.

The victim was seen in the passenger seat of a vehicle driven by a female. After the shooting, the victim was seen being transported to a local hospital by authorities. A traffic collision also occurred.

Northbound and Southbound Cherry Avenue are currently being blocked off by responding authorities. Please use caution and avoid the area if possible.
