One Dead following Esther Street Shooting

Long Beach Police Department is currently investigating a shooting incident that took place on Feb. 2 and resulted in the death of a male adult.

LONG BEACH, CA – On Feb. 2, at approximately 6:34 p.m., officers responded to a report of gunshots near Atlantic Avenue and Esther Street, which resulted in the death of a male adult.

Upon arrival, officers located a male adult victim unresponsive in the roadway and lying next to his parked vehicle. Officers began rendering life-saving measures until paramedics from the Long Beach Fire Department arrived and transported him to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Homicide detectives were notified and responded to the scene. Through their preliminary investigation, they discovered the victim was approached by multiple male subjects. At least one of the men produced a handgun and fired at the victim as he sat in his vehicle. The suspects quickly ran away from the area and into a nearby apartment complex.

The Long Beach Police Department’s Special Weapons and Tactics team responded and served a search warrant at a nearby apartment. Firearm evidence was collected from the apartment by the Forensic Science Services Division. The evidence will be analyzed and reviewed to determine if it is connected to the murder. No arrests have been made at this time.

The motive for the murder, and any possible relationship between the victim and the suspects, is still being investigated. The victim has been identified as 31-year-old Nashon Wall, resident of Signal Hill.
