All Girl Concert and Art Show to Debut in Long Beach During Women’s History Month
LONG BEACH, CA – Gritty In Pink and Punk Rock & Paint Brushes have partnered for an All-Girl Jam and art show extravaganza on March 5.
The event will be held at Alex’s Bar, 2913 E. Anaheim Street, from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and will feature over 50 of southern California’s best female musicians, covering all-female artists, in honor of Women’s History Month.
The city of Long Beach was the ideal location for the post-pandemic return of Gritty In Pink’s All Girl Jam. The company was recently selected for the prestigious Long Beach Accelerator program for emerging tech startups. As a result, the Accelerator became Gritty’s first official investor, along with funding partner Sunstone.
“It’s always inspiring to present so much female talent and we are really excited about this event,” said Shira Yevin, Founder of Gritty In Pink and all-female band, Shiragirl.
Gritty In Pink first stepped onto the Los Angeles music scene in January of 2020. Its mission is to achieve gender equality in the music industry, through events, partnerships, and an online marketplace. With the COVID-19 pandemic forcing people into quarantine, the platform shifted its performances to live streaming via social media.
“We had an Instagram Livestream fundraiser series that ended up getting about 1,500 live viewers per show and raised thousands of dollars for different charities including the ACLU, HeadCount, and Keep A Breast,” Yevin said.
As the creator of the Vans Warped Tour Shiragirl Stage, which featured over 300 female musicians, including Joan Jett and Paramore, Yevin continues the legacy of providing a community and a platform for female voices in a male-dominated industry, having showcased over 200 artists with a collective following of 5 million on Instagram and 13 million on Tiktok.
The indoor-outdoor event is free upon entry, with the Jam starting at 5:00 p.m. The outdoor space is set to feature a Punk Rock & Paintbrushes all-women art exhibition of 16 artists, including Soma Snakeoil, Lisa Brownlee, and Chloe Trujillo, wife of Metallica’s Rob Trujillo. The event will also feature artisans, merchandise booths, and drink specials.
Sponsorships include Guitar Girl Magazine, Cool Cat Wine, Drew Martin, Female Rockers, and Gritty’s new marketplace for women in music, INPINK.
The goals of this new digital market space are to widen access into a gatekept industry in order to provide a pipeline of female talent and industry professionals looking to hire from a diverse community of female creators. Event performers will also be available for hire through INPINK. To learn more, visit INPINK.com and sign up.
