Fatal Shooting in Long Beach Forces 2 Schools to Lock Down

A deadly shooting occurred around 11:20am in the area of 51st and Pacific near Perry Lindsey Academy and Dooley Elementary School locking down for nearly two hours this afternoon, according to police.

A victim self transported themselves to a local hospital, possible suspect was taken into custody a few miles away. LBPD, LASD is checking the school for more possible victims.

The school was cleared around 12:15pm. Parents were frustrated that they were not provided much information. An email was sent out to parents around 1pm saying “The schools were locked down due to gun shots heard and police activity in the surrounding neighborhood.”

The victim later died at a local hospital.
