Driver shot during attempted carjacking in Long Beach

Sunday at 2:45 a.m. LBPD officers responded to the 500 block of Orange Avenue regarding a shooting. When officers arrived they contacted a male adult victim with a gunshot wound to the lower body.

Long Beach Fire Department personnel transported the victim to a local hospital in stable condition.

The preliminary investigation indicates that the victim, accompanied by a female adult, had parked their vehicle. Four male adult suspects driving southbound on Orange Avenue, in two separate vehicles, exited their vehicles and demanded the male adult victim’s keys.

The victim refused and one of the suspects discharged their firearm and shot the victim. The suspects fled the scene in their vehicle prior to officers’ arrival. The investigation is ongoing.
