Woman Sexually Assaulted at Chiropractor Clinic; Suspect Apprehended
A horrifying incident unfolded earlier this week at a Long Beach chiropractor clinic when a woman was sexually assaulted by a homeless man, prompting a swift response from clinic staff and authorities.
The Long Beach Police Department reported that Ernesto Sanson, a 57-year-old homeless man, was apprehended on Monday afternoon at the scene in the 3700 block of East Anaheim Street. He faces charges of sexual battery and vandalism in connection with the incident.
According to Dr. Corey Clements, the chiropractor at the clinic, the ordeal began when Sanson entered the office around noon under the pretext of seeking a massage. Upon entering, Sanson allegedly encountered a female patient receiving therapy and proceeded to assault her while she was lying face-down and unable to see him.
Dr. Clements described the harrowing moment when the victim screamed for help, prompting him and his staff to rush to her aid. Despite Sanson’s attempt to flee, clinic staff managed to apprehend him with the help of two other doctors who restrained him until police arrived.
Surveillance footage captured the chaotic scene as officers escorted Sanson out of the clinic following his arrest. Subsequently, he pleaded guilty to sexual battery and was sentenced to one year in Los Angeles County jail.
In response to the incident, Dr. Clements announced plans to enhance security measures at the clinic, including the installation of outdoor lights and surveillance cameras. Additionally, the clinic will tighten restroom access policies to ensure the safety of patients.
Local residents expressed shock and concern upon learning of the disturbing encounter, emphasizing the need for heightened awareness and vigilance in public spaces.
The incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of maintaining a safe environment for all individuals, particularly in healthcare settings where vulnerable individuals seek care and assistance. Authorities continue to investigate the case, urging anyone with information to come forward and assist in ensuring justice for the victim.
