4-Year-Old Girl Hit and Killed by Truck in Long Beach
Collision Investigation detectives are currently investigating a tragic traffic incident that occurred on Friday, resulting in the death of a child.
The incident unfolded around 6:58 p.m. when law enforcement officers responded to reports of a collision at the intersection of 55th Way and Paramount Boulevard. The collision involved a truck and a pedestrian.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered a young female pedestrian lying injured on the roadway. The child was swiftly transported to a nearby hospital, where despite efforts to save her life, she tragically succumbed to her injuries.
Preliminary investigations suggest that a 2020 Ford F-150, operated by a 25-year-old male resident of Downey, was heading eastbound on 55th Way, just west of Paramount Boulevard, when it collided with a pedestrian crossing 55th Way outside of a designated crosswalk.
The driver of the Ford F-150 remained at the scene and fully cooperated with authorities during their inquiries. Initial findings indicate that speed, distracted driving, and impaired driving are not believed to have contributed to the collision.
Authorities are withholding the identity of the 4-year-old pedestrian due to being a minor.
