Series of Violent Incidents Reported in Long Beach: Stabbings, Shooting, and Homicide

Here’s a recap of incidents occurring last night:

Stabbing – 1100 Block of Anaheim Street: On July 4, 2024 at approximately 6:47 p.m., officers responded to the 1100 block of Anaheim Street regarding a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers contacted a female adult victim with multiple non-life-threatening stab wounds to the upper body. Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived on scene and transported the victim to a local hospital in stable condition. Preliminary investigation indicates the female adult victim was involved in a verbal dispute with a female adult suspect which escalated when the suspect stabbed the victim. The suspect fled the area prior to officers’ arrival. Suspect information and motive for the stabbing are under investigation.

Stabbing – 1100 Block of 2nd Street: On July 4, 2024 at approximately 11:49 p.m., officers responded to the 1100 block of 2nd Street regarding a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers located a male adult victim with a non-life-threatening stab wound to the upper body. Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived on scene and transported the victim to a local hospital in stable condition. The preliminary investigation indicates the victim was in a verbal dispute with a female adult suspect which escalated when the suspect stabbed the victim. The suspect was identified as Jaylene Dominguez, a 20-year-old resident of Long Beach, who was booked for assault with a deadly weapon. Bail was set at $30,000. The investigation is ongoing.  

Hit-Shooting – 400 block of East Morningside Street: On July 5, 2024 at approximately 2:58 a.m., officers responded to the 400 block of East Morningside Street regarding a shooting. Upon arrival, officers contacted a female adult victim with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the lower body. Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived on scene and transported her to a local hospital in stable condition. The preliminary investigation indicates an unknown suspect discharged a firearm in the direction of the victim’s residence and the victim was struck by gun fire. The suspect fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival. Suspect information and motive for the shooting are under investigation. The investigation is ongoing.

Homicide – 1000 block of Stanley Avenue: Homicide detectives are investigating a murder that occurred on July 4, 2024, in the 1000 block of Stanley Avenue. Homicide detectives are investigating the murder of a male adult that occurred on July 4, 2024 in the 1000 block of Stanley Avenue. 

At approximately 10:03 p.m., officers responded to the 1000 block of Stanley Avenue regarding a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers contacted a male adult victim with life-threatening stab wounds to the upper body.

Officers rendered medical aid and attempted life-saving measures until being relieved by Long Beach Fire Department personnel, who transported the victim to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

The suspect fled the scene before officers arrived.

Homicide Detectives responded to the scene to investigate the incident. Through their preliminary investigation, detectives determined the victim and a male adult suspect were in a verbal dispute, which escalated when the suspect stabbed the victim. The motive is under investigation.

The victim was identified as Arnold Archivald Garcia Baide, a 36-year-old resident of Long Beach.
