Long Beach Police Arrest Three Suspects in Street Vendor Shooting

Long Beach, CA — Today, Long Beach Police Department Chief of Police Wally Hebeish announced the arrest of three suspects in connection with the shooting of Yener Hudiel Ramirez-Miranda on March 20, 2024. Through an ongoing investigation and the use of security camera footage, Homicide detectives were able to identify the suspects present at the scene of the crime.

In a coordinated effort with detectives from the Special Investigations Division, the LBPD SWAT Team, and the Huntington Beach Police Department SWAT Team, Homicide detectives located and safely arrested the suspects. The following individuals were booked:

  • Rahman Snook Abdallah, 19, a resident of Long Beach, was booked for murder. Abdallah was arrested on July 18, 2024, in Long Beach. His bail was set at $2,000,000.
  • Raylon Deshawn Akers, 23, a resident of Los Angeles, was booked for murder. Akers was arrested on July 18, 2024, in Long Beach. His bail was set at $2,000,000.
  • James Arthur Havlicheck Jr., 33, a resident of Lakewood, was booked for accessory to murder. Havlicheck was arrested on July 19, 2024, in Los Angeles. His bail was set at $1,000,000.

“Mr. Ramirez-Miranda is the victim of unacceptable gang-related gun violence,” said Chief of Police Wally Hebeish. “I believe these arrests demonstrate that our department will never stop working with and for our community. We remain dedicated to our community’s safety and to holding individuals accountable for their crimes.”

Long Beach Mayor Rex Richardson echoed the Chief’s sentiments, stating, “Mr. Ramirez-Miranda was a beloved member of the Long Beach community. Safety takes all of us and gun violence is not tolerated in our city. As a City, we are committed to disrupting this cycle of gang-related violence and to keeping everyone safe.”

During the arrests, officers recovered multiple firearms. Detectives also served search warrants in Long Beach, Huntington Beach, Lakewood, and Los Angeles.

Homicide detectives believe the suspects fired shots at subjects they perceived to be rival gang members. Tragically, Ramirez-Miranda was an innocent bystander and not involved in gang activity. Each of the suspects is a known gang member.

Authorities believe additional individuals were in the area at the time of the shooting and are urging anyone with information to contact the LBPD at 562.570.7244 or submit an anonymous tip via LA Crime Stoppers. Detectives plan to present the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office this week.
