Man Fatally Shot in North Long Beach; Suspect at Large

A fatal shooting occurred in North Long Beach on Tuesday afternoon, leaving a man dead and prompting a search for the suspect.

The Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) reported that the incident took place around 1:30 p.m. on Lime Avenue near 59th Street, in proximity to the Michelle Obama Neighborhood Library.

The victim succumbed to his injuries at the scene before officers could arrive, according to LBPD spokesperson Alyssa Baeza. The shooter had already fled the area by the time law enforcement responded.

In the aftermath of the shooting, officers canvassed the neighborhood, interviewing potential witnesses. A helicopter was briefly deployed to assist in locating the suspect. As of now, no description of the shooter or shooters has been released.

Homicide detectives are currently on the scene conducting their investigation. Baeza indicated that additional information would be made available as the investigation progresses.
