Double Homicide Suspect Found Dead After Long Beach Standoff with SWAT

A double homicide suspect was found dead after barricading himself inside a Long Beach home on Monday, following a fatal shooting that claimed the lives of two people.

SWAT officers and police surrounded the residence for over five hours, trying to establish contact with the suspect, who had fled the scene of the shooting.

Long Beach Police responded to the 300 block of East 63rd Street after receiving a report of gunfire around 11:15 a.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered a woman with gunshot wounds to her upper torso and a man with undisclosed injuries. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, while the woman was transported to a hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.

The standoff began after officers tracked the suspect, an adult male, to a nearby home where he barricaded himself.

Authorities later confirmed that the suspect was found dead inside the home from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The investigation remains ongoing.
