LONG BEACH, Calif. — Video from Long Beach shows recent urban warfare with helicopters, explosions, and simulated gunfire heard overnight as the U.S. Military conducted a training exercise that lasted until about 2 a.m.
The exercise was part of a planned military operation. Long Beach Police Department personnel were deployed in the area to assist with pedestrian and vehicle safety.
City officials noted that the training was conducted by the U.S. Military and was not a City of Long Beach operation. Officials also said the city did not have jurisdiction over the exercise’s operational details.
No emergencies or public safety threats were reported in connection with the training. Additional details about the exercise were not released due to operational security concerns.
