Long Beach will celebrate the Fourth of July with three synchronized professional fireworks shows beginning at 9 p.m. on Saturday, July 4, stretching across the city’s coast.
Fireworks barges will be near the Queen Mary, Junipero Beach (Cherry Avenue) and Granada Beach (Bay Shore Avenue). The displays are expected to be visible from much of the shoreline.
Popular free viewing locations include Bixby Park, Bluff Park, Shoreline Aquatic Park, Junipero Beach, Granada Beach and the area near Rosie’s Dog Beach. Spectators are encouraged to arrive early and bring chairs or blankets.
For a premium experience, the Queen Mary will host its annual Fourth of July celebration from 3 to 10 p.m. aboard the historic ship at 1126 Queens Highway. General admission is $75 for adults, $45 for children, and VIP admission is $225. Fireworks begin around 9 p.m.
City officials are reminding residents that all personal fireworks, including sparklers and “safe and sane” fireworks, are illegal in Long Beach. The City encourages everyone to celebrate safely by watching one of the professional shows.
Long Beach will also launch a drone feasibility pilot program during the holiday to evaluate how drones can improve public safety, situational awareness and fire detection. Separately, the Long Beach Police Department will continue using its existing Drone for Patrol program to assist with fireworks-related calls and other incidents.
Officials say illegal fireworks continue to pose fire dangers, cause injuries, create excessive noise and generate thousands of complaints each year.
