Preliminary investigators determined the Long Beach Transit bus was making a left turn onto an access road when it struck the pedestrian, who was crossing the street. Officers found an adult male suffering from non-life-threatening stab wounds to the upper body. Long Beach Fire Department personnel transported him to a local hospital. According to the preliminary investigation, the victim became involved in a physical altercation with another adult male, which escalated when the suspect stabbed him. The suspect remains under investigation. The violence continued into Tuesday morning. At approximately 4:18 a.m., officers responded to the 4600 block of East Goldfield Avenue regarding a shooting. Police located an adult male suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the upper body. Investigators say the victim confronted a group of suspects who were allegedly attempting to steal a catalytic converter from a vehicle. During the confrontation, one of the suspects reportedly shot the victim before fleeing. The victim was transported to a local hospital, and investigators are continuing to search for the suspects. The officer fired shots at the suspects, who fled the area. Detectives now believe three suspects were involved. Fireworks barges will be near the Queen Mary, Junipero Beach (Cherry Avenue) and Granada Beach (Bay Shore Avenue). The displays are expected to be visible from much of the shoreline. Popular free viewing locations include Bixby Park, Bluff Park, Shoreline Aquatic Park, Junipero Beach, Granada Beach and the area near Rosie’s Dog Beach. Spectators are encouraged to arrive early and bring chairs or blankets. For a premium experience, the Queen Mary will host its annual Fourth of July celebration from 3 to 10 p.m. aboard the historic ship at 1126 Queens Highway. General admission is $75 for adults, $45 for children, and VIP admission is $225. Christina Rodriguez, M.D., Medical Director of Advanced Cardiac Imaging, is a fellowship-trained, board-certified non-invasive cardiologist and one of only two physicians in the Southern Los Angeles and Orange County region specializing in advanced cardiac imaging. Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) uses powerful magnets and radio waves to create detailed images of the heart without ionizing radiation. During the exam, patients lie on a table that moves into the MRI scanner while images are taken of the heart's structure, function and blood flow. Cardiac MRI can detect heart muscle damage, valve disease, inflammation, congenital heart defects and early signs of coronary artery disease that may not be visible with other imaging tests. "There are so many different minimally invasive and noninvasive ways to look into the heart," said Dr. Rodriguez. "I plan to continue bringing new advanced technologies and services to our program to help patients with advanced heart conditions." Dr. Rodriguez is also focused on advancing women's heart health. Heart disease is the leading cause of death among women, and symptoms are often different than in men. Women are also more likely to develop microvascular dysfunction, a disease affecting the heart's smallest blood vessels that can be difficult to diagnose. "With the introduction of stress cardiac MRI at Long Beach Medical Center, we will better understand how microvascular dysfunction affects women, it is one of our main focuses in our Women's Heart Center," Dr. Rodriguez said. According to investigators, the theft occurred on June 5, 2026, at approximately 2:49 a.m. Surveillance footage shows two suspects approaching a cage located outside a residence. The suspects allegedly opened the cage, removed a Yellow-Naped Amazon Parrot, and fled northbound on Cortner Avenue on foot before reportedly entering a black sedan. Police described the suspects as: • Suspect #1: Male, wearing a blue hoodie, jeans, and white shoes. • Suspect #2: Male, wearing dark clothing and dark-colored shoes. The vehicle involved is described as a black sedan. Police maintained a presence in the area throughout the evening as some members of the crowd remained despite repeated announcements regarding the city’s curfew laws.
